Classic Canadian cedar strip runabout !
The boat, the outboard and a 1955 Mastercraft trailer were purchased together in Huntsville, Ontario by the current owner in the summer of 2008. It required some work, but given the age, its condition was fair, and fortunately there was no missing hardware or parts.
The Lakefield Mohawk was professionally restored and painted over the winter 2008 – 2009 by Mr. Kent Allanson in Hastings, Ontario. The bottom hull was fiber glassed. The outboard, mechanical and electrical overhaul was completed in the spring of 2009 by Peel Marine in Lakefield, Ontario.
Boat has been used every summer since, on Medora Lake, near Bala, pulling tubes and small skiers. Years later, a second, slightly more powerful, Gale outboard (1963 vintage, 40HP Sovereign) was acquired to pull teenager skiers.
The 18E licence number indicates the boat was originally licensed in the Hamilton area. The previous owner kept it on Chubb Lake near Huntsville and stated that before him, the boat was used for many years by a warden in Algonquin Park.
The Lakefield Mohawk serial number is 300971.
