The boat was purchased new from the T. Eaton catalogue by Mr. Herb Gray and was kept in Mr. Gray’s boathouse at Gray’s Point on Gloucester Pool. Bob Buchanan purchased the boat from Mr. Gray in the late 1950’s and used it as the main family boat until the mid 1960’s. David Buchanan was given the boat at the age of 12 and stored it until 2004 when an extensive reconstruction project was undertaken. With the expert assistance of Eric Seepa, then of Classic Boat Restorations, the boat was reconstructed from the keel to gunwales, with the decks removed, cleaned up and reinstalled. The mahogany hullside planking is book matched, and a user friendly 5200 bottom was installed. The original Buchanan Meteor (family business) was rebuilt and reinstalled. All the original hardware has been reinstalled on the boat. To the best of my knowledge, it is the sole surviving Peterborough 18 Zephyr Deluxe still in use.
