Louie Cares purchased this boat from a Muskoka family in 2007, and Breen Boats restored it between 2008-09. This is a very rare boat due to its high level of originality. This was during Ditchburn’s second re-organizing, and the hopes were that models such as this would change the tides for the company. During the restoration process, ‘Elsie’ received a ‘Encapsulated Plank’ Breen Bottom, and was stripped to bare wood, and refinished throughout. Also re-wired and re-rigged as these systems become unsafe at a certain age. Powered with her original Gray Marine ‘150 HP Fireball’, she is a remarkably fast boat for her age. Such an impressive boat that Breen decided to build a slightly larger boat, Sandsu, based off her design. She now calls Reeds Lake, Michigan home, where she is the Queen of the Cares fleet.
