From the Owner

Raindance was built & launched in 1928 by the Lane Motor Boat Company in Auckland. Owner unknown. LOA = 28’6”, Beam = 8′ and she draws 2’6”. Built from single skin Kauri carvel planks.During the 1920>30’s period, thousands of 25’>32’ wooden boats were built, most as work boats for businesses and coastal property owners in and around Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf..Raindance survived because she was designed and built as a small pleasure craft, not a commercial craft, the quality of her build and quality of design ensured she has almost always been gifted with caring owners.
As launched she was named Lady Gay,
